Why We Celebrate The Fourth

We heard about this great idea from our social media buddy Mike. He's started a collective project where the sky is the limit! (we LOVE those!) for those who want to think a little differently about the Fourth of July.

Most of us are making plans this weekend to grill and risk our lives with pyrotechnics fireworks and other such paraphernalia...but Why We Celebrate aims to shine to some light on the real heroes of the moment. It's a cool and very social way to think about the sacrifice made by our military and their families enjoy each others stories and do some learning.

They are asking friends to use the #WhyWeCelebrate hashtag from Friday to Sunday to share stories of our military give a word of thanks post photos from picnics & fireworks celebrations around the country blog posts about what the holiday means to us etc. On Twitter the @WhyWeCelebrate Twitter account is reserved to RT stories and to share the names of war casualties. You can also share photos and stories at the Why We Celebrate Facebook page . It's a chance to touch thousands of lives very quickly.

Give it a shot you never know who you can make the difference for. And to close things off an old...but still a favorite here in the office. Check out the "Think you know your country video from Gator Alumni and Jacksonville Times Union multimedia columnist Amanda Warford...classic stuff! Our corporate office will be closed Monday July 5th 2010 all property offices will remain open July 3rd through 5th.
