Hopefully the cooler temps remain through the weekend because there's lots to do outdoors in Gainesville if you're not headed to Baton Rogue (Beat LSU!) This week we've found some fun Orlando events for out Winter Park residents.

In Gainesville

WHAT: Wildflower Walks
WHERE: Morningside Nature Center 3540 E. University Ave

These free garden walks take place every Saturday morning in the month of October from 9a.m. Give their trails a try (most than 6 miles of them) and tack on a visit to your local farmers market.


WHAT: GFAA 29th Annual Art Fest
WHERE: Thornebrooke Village

The Gainesville Fine Arts Association invites you to view the work of finely curated artists and craftsmen at their annual event. There will also be live entertainment and activities to keep little hands busy. More details on this here. Explore the event on both Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 from 10a.m. - 5p.m. and; good news residents of Hunters Crossing Lake Crossing and Huntington Lakes Thornebrooke is right around the corner from you!


WHAT: ZOMBIE TOWN a documentary play
WHERE: Hippodrome Theatre

Jumpstart Halloween this year by joining the walking dead of Harwood Texas as a theatre troupe attempts to interview the survivors of it's zombie apocalypse. This live “mockumentary” play will feed your appetite for all things undead. WHAT: Mamma Mia! The Musical
WHERE: Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

The production fueled by the storytelling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs returns to the Phillips Center make plans for Monday October 14 at 7:30p.m.

WHAT: Popcorn Flicks in the Park featuring "House on Haunted Hill
WHERE: Downtown Central Park 251 South Park Avenue

The City of Winter Park and Enzian have collaborated to produce a cinema series in Winter Park Fl. This film series features classic films for the whole family and this Thursday night they're screening the 1959 thriller House on Haunted Hill at 8p.m..
Patrons are encouraged to bring a blanket a picnic or snacks but there also will be free popcorn for everyone. Rain date will be October 24 click here for more details. Speaking of Thriller...

Can't make it on Thursday night? Try them on Saturday for the screening of Frankenstein. Creepy!


WHAT: 40th Annual Winter Park Autumn Art Festival
WHERE: Central Park in downtown Winter Park

Enjoy this event on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 from 9a.m. to 5p.m. both days.
Over 150 Central Florida artists display their work at this weekend festival in downtown Winter Park. FREE admission includes entertainment food and children’s hands-on art workshops. Parking is often at a premium during this busy weekend Park Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic during the festival from New England to Canton Avenues both days from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. however shuttles and a bike valet will be available for guests - more details on that here or at 407-644-8281.
