Mel Gardner is a maintenance technician at Lake Crossing, a 264-unit conventional property in northwest Gainesville. Over the past months Mel has demonstrated a high level of initiative during a transitional period when the maintenance supervisor took medical leave. Our team has taken note of his success in building relationships with residents over the last few months, and it really shows when resident ask for him by name to complete their work order. Mel consistently volunteers to help with whatever needs done on short notice and we can count on him to stay late to make sure work orders are completed for the day. He is organized in his daily duties and typically arrives early for his shift to start so that residents can enjoy their favorite amenity during the day. Mel’s customer service skills have greatly improved, and he has learned how important his position truly is in improving resident retention. In the month of September, Lake Crossing earned an impressive 795 reputation score [525 is the industry average] for customer service; something we could not have done without him. Melt takes great pride in carrying out his duties and he has no problem taking that extra step to help a team member or resident. Mel wants to learn everything he can from everyCMCteam member that visits Lake Crossing so that he can grow as a professional and better serve our residents. Mel's goal is to learn as much as he can so that he can be promoted to maintenance supervisor. He has excellent communication skills and will make sure that anyone involved with a project or work order understands what is happening and he explains the next steps in fulfilling work orders. Mel also participates in resident events and stays late for clean-up. Mel has even stepped up and take non janitor duties to make sure our property looks beautiful. He is a wonderful team player, and we are proud to have him at Lake Crossing.
