Review: 101 Cantina - Gainesville's Modern Mexican

If you didn't frequent Midtown then 101 Cantina will make you want to go. This restaurant sits between Buckman Drive/ 17th Street and University Avenue across from the UF campus in the heart of Midtown WITH a parking lot - and good thing too because the place can get packed.

Like their other restaurant 101 downtown the food at 101 Cantina is creative and flavorful while the drink list infamous. They are also known for their Sunday Fundays #teamdaydrinking and other shenanigans which you can see here. We want to talk about the food!

They recently flipped their Tex-Mex-esque menu to offer a tapas-style take on tacos. The little additions like goat cheese in the guacamole make eating here a bit more special. Plus I think it's ridiculously affordable for the quality of food and their Five Dollar Friday Appetizer deal is just phenomenal.

I highly recommend the Loaded Queso with sautéed red onions black beans and a meat of your choice (seen here with chicken). The Key Lime Taco is a suggestion for dessert - I can't really describe it just give it a try. It's the perfect sweet note to end a meal.

On top of daily food and drink deals 101 Cantina offers cleverly named tacos (they are small with the idea to mix and match flavors) salads and burritos.

We tried every taco on the menu but the standout ones were: Señor Feesh La Flama Blanca Cheech and El Gringo.
